El Salvador La Concordia

Desert Sun Coffee Roasters purchases El Salvadoran coffee from the cooperative La Concordia.  This small co-op, consisting of 20 families, is located in the state of Ahuachapan in eastern El Salvador.  The goals of La Concordia are to protect natural resources, promote production of other agricultural products, maintain their organic and fair trade certifications and improve quality of life for its members.

Some projects that the co-op will work on in the future are related to nutrition, infrastructure construction, a coffee processing mill, water storage, reforestation and increased coffee sales.  Your purchase of this fairly traded coffee provides a premium to the coffee farming families so that they can begin working on these improvement projects.  Read about one Salvadoran farmers projects in the Coop Coffees newsletter.
